MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
This is a very exciting year in the life of Community Presbyterian Church. We have been ministering in this community for one hundred and fifty years, we have been in this beautiful church building for one hundred years! Let that sink in; that is a long time! I have the privilege of serving as interim pastor for just a little over three of those years, it is very clear to me what a blessing this church has been to La Plata. The warm, loving, and caring members of this congregation continue to make an impact on the lives of people both in and outside of the church.
A lot has changed in one hundred and fifty at Community Presbyterian Church, in Plata, and in our world, but what hasn’t changed is the unchanging, unfailing gospel of Jesus Christ, which has been proclaimed from the pulpit at this church all these years. It is faith in Christ that has been at the core of our identity as Community Presbyterian Church. In church, people have come to faith in Jesus Christ; some have gone on to enter the ministry, many young people have shown the love of Jesus on mission trips, and many members have served in various ministries in La Plata surrounding communities. People have been baptized here, married here, and lives have been in memorial services.
It is because of all this, and much more, that we are excited to celebrate our two big anniversaries this, 2024. It is a time to look back at all the lives that been touched and all the people whose faith and hard work have enabled us to reach this time of celebration. It is also a time to celebrate the people who are here now and the ministries we are involved in, and to look ahead at what God going to continue to do in this family of faith. We wish invite the whole community to celebrate with us because Community Presbyterian Church has reached these milestones in isolation, but in part because of the wonderful community of La Plata that we belong to.
