MISSION STATEMENT

To know Christ and to make Him known.

Our Church organization has survived 150 years. Its growth has been amazing.

We are extremely proud of our past history, but now we must look to the future and rededicate ourselves to His service.

The success of the Church, in the next one hundred and fifty years, will depend upon the congregation and its leadership. We feel confident that the Christian influence of the past and present will not only be beneficial to the future Church, but will spread into the community, state, nation and even to other nations wherever members of the La Plata Community Presbyterian Church may be. This wish is not just for 2024, but for the future.

“The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.” (Psalms 100:5)

Let us close this chapter of history of the La Plata Community Presbyterian Church with the prayer that was offered at the Dedication Service of the Church building in 1925 and remains the earnest invocation of the congregation in 2024: Eternal God, our Heavenly Father, in whose fellowship there is health, holiness and happiness, by whose love we live, and by whose grace we have eternal hope, may we feel the breath of thy presence now. Purify our lives, purge us of all sin, and wash us by thy love. Grant us the spirit of worship and the consecration, and may the deepest yearnings of our being be enabled by the power of faith and exalted by the majesty of prayer and communion with Thee. Fill our minds with wisdom, our hearts with tenderness and love, and our hands with usefulness, and give us thy will and courage to follow the way of thy spirit. As never before, we pray for thy spirit to be upon us. May we dedicate ourselves anew unto Thee, we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
